While riding a bike lent to me by a friend through the countryside of the Dutch province of Drenthe the weather along the road wasn't that terrific, but dry! I had to get used to the different set of wheels, which took me a while and when pedaling along the amazingly beautiful roads and paths I sometimes got somewhat melancholic and my thoughts floated back to what once was, me and my loyal ride cruising the magnificent landscape! But let bygones be bygones and start fresh, when typing these words I'm already the proud owner of a brand new one with huge saddle bags(ordered online, I had no idea of how big 58 liters are)! Good Morning 😃 It was while riding my bicycle late one evening along a country road, which led me through stunning looking wetlands full of the most amazing flowers like a garden of nature, that in the neighborhood of a small river I was suddenly bombarded by bugs! I could not look straight ahead anymore, by the millions they came out of the wetlands and decided to dive bomb me! I kept on pedaling face down as hard as it me be and from the awesome environment surrounding me I didn't see anything at all anymore! After coming out of a bend in the bicycle path I knew there had to be a bridge so me head needs to get up otherwise I might plunge head first into the meandering river! It was early evening when pedaling home from my daily coffee along a bicycle path leading me through the countryside of the Dutch province of Drenthe! I decided to take a bit of a detour and instead of going in a straight line I took the scenic route! I entered a small farming community, which is called Balloo and just when entering it there I saw the most amazing sight, cows from an organic farm frolicking about in the evening sun on there green and luscious pastures! It was an absolute delight to see so I squeezed my brakes and dismounted in a way the herd wouldn't go on a stampede! After succeeding in keeping them at ease I reached for the snapshooter, aimed so the newborns on the left would fit in and pressed push! It's mostly the tree itself who gets to be in the spotlights, but there's a downside to this! I did my fair share of treeshooting and somehow it didn't felt quite right, especially when shooting at the waters edge! Some research I did and shot trees on several different locations and occasions to find out whát wás bugging me about it? One evening when the sun was setting and shinning beautifully through the leaves and branches, it was when just as I pulled the trigger the snapshooter tilted somewhat forward, almost falling in the water! My heart stopped for second, but I managed with a death defying dive to save my dear shooter from plunging into the darkness of the abyss! Packed up my stuff with trembling hands and went on home where I looked at some of the shots of that day, and this was one them! By almost letting the shooter drop I, when grabbing the thing, might have pressed push and found out what was bothering me! Stormy, yet beautiful! While riding my bike against a pretty strong wind downhill, I truly enjoyed being here! Look folks, isn't this absolutely amazing? Bit of a shame so many tourists are using their cars to climb the ancient ridge, which is located in the Dutch province of Drenthe, today because it is some sort of a holiday, I believe! Good for the economy, less good for the environment!
