As both Common and Nettlejack toads are properly poisonous to cats and native to Northern England, could a frog stew be poisoned by some enterprising artist of ShadowClan cuisine? If your cats are more northeast than northwest, you could even have common toads as a fugu-esque 'prepared properly, a delicacy' and have a non-culinary poisoner present the rare and exotic Nettlejack, perhaps as a feigned omen or blessing? Idk just spiralling here
Oooooh, natterjack toads!! I've been trying to figure some way to make a warrior cats version of hakarl, fermentation to make a poisonous thing edible...
Natterjacks are an endangered toad being reintroduced to this geographical area. The only thing is that they tend to live in sandy moorland with warmer pools of water... based on what came up in my brief research, it seems like they have a thing for beaches or WindClan territory.
I plan for ShadowClan to be the one who's good at neutralizing poisons. Maybe they can trade with WindClan for toads, considering them a delicacy.
It could also be fun for other clans to try and replicate the technique, but poison themselves because they just prepare them like a normal frog.
In any case, love it. This is a very interesting animal, I'll keep it in mind, especially when I get to ShadowClan's ability to prepare poisonous things.
