Natsally AU - Sally and Natalie were together in the last years of high school - in this AU, the rich Mr. and Mrs. Chase Sr. got mad at Natalie and deprived her of their mercy because she, of course, refused to be the perfect daughter they wanted her to be, so they took her away from the private upper-class girls' academy where she studied and they transferred her to a regular school so that she could try "mediocre life" and understand "what they gave her," and Sally begged Uncle Rich, who was already seriously suffering from cancer at that time, to finish school, but he really wanted his niece to get at least a secondary education. The two girls immediately became friends and felt like they were soulmates: Natalie understood Sally's quirky sense of humor and found it incredibly funny, and Sally shared Natalie's love for nature and her desire for independence and self-fulfillment. Natalie admired Sally's resilience, as she managed to excel academically while also working part-time to save her family's savings for Uncle Rich's medical treatment. Every weekend, she would travel to the hospital to take care of him. Sally was impressed by Natalie's upbringing in a wealthy and privileged family, as she remained an incredibly kind and amazing person.
The girls spent a lot of time together at school and outside of it: they sat next to each other in class, they ate lunch together, they tried to stay close to each other during physical education, and they even sometimes gave each other notes, even if they were in trouble for it, they talked during breaks and went to the bathroom together, Natalie got a job at the same diner where Sally worked part-time, they went to the local river together or went to the park together to collect leaves and flowers, and sometimes they even napped under a tree holding hands. In the end, they both knew they were bisexual and attracted to each other, and they had an affair during their final months of school, consisting of secret kisses in dark corners of the hallway, Natalie sneaking into Sally's room at night, Sally writing poems about her girlfriend, Natalie taking Sally to the most beautiful places she could find and adorning her with a crown of leaves and flowers, Sally keeping her hairpin, sweater, and even her math homework in a cute box under her bed, and Natalie placing a lock of Sally's hair in her pendant. In the end, they broke up when high school ended, and they both wanted to believe that it was just a teenage love that would remain a pleasant memory and nothing more.
