In this verse (my X-Ray and Vav verse), it takes place post all canon RvB events assuming Wash makes it out alive.
He instantly cut himself off from the SIM troops. Not on purpose, but it was sort of a subconscious thing that happened. They all had homes and families to go to and each other. And he kinda just?? “my work is done here” and decided that he wasn’t needed for them anymore.
He?? absolutely still loves them and would absolutely do anything for them still. But he wants them to have the most normal life they can. And he doesn’t think that’s possible with him there. So he very rarely talks to them anymore.
He misses them so much it hurts and he doesn’t like bringing it up. He even has two cats that he named after them without even realizing it. (Redd and Blue)
Though he rarely is in contact with them now, he still has the “I would literally kill and be killed” for them mentality.
