No problem, happy to help! Though just to let you know, the book Wicked is very different from the musical Wicked. It has a few unique characters and plot points similar, but the book is much darker and heavier than the musical. It is still worth checking out, there are many people that even prefer it over the musical, but it's also worth coming into it treating it as just another Wizard of Oz spinoff that happens to have similarities to the musical.
Speaking of the musical, one other thing to note is the movie that came out is actually only the first half/act 1 of the musical and is even longer than the entire play combined. They expand on a lot of scenes and add a bit of extra stuff (even a couple of things that reference the book)
Thanks!
I knew about it being part one, I think it was kinda crappy that they didn't inform people that it was part one before the movie came out. I think it's cool it references more from the book, movies always seem to fail to include all the parts from the book just due to lack of time.
You know my hope for a remake? A series like Game of Thrones, but for Harry Potter. So you can get all the nuances and bits missed from the movies, like pieces that make the Ginny love interest actually make sense. Too bad JK is a right pain in the ass.
If you've never seen the Wicked Broadway play you should be able to find recordings by going to youtube and looking up Wicked Slime Tutorial (that's a codeword for a theater bootleg to get around copyright detection bots) Also if you haven't seen it you should check out Wizard of Oz movie (I normally would assume you'd seen it but I just recently took a family member to see Wicked and he said he's never seen Wizard of Oz)
My first real ask! Thanks for this!
I've never seen Wicked, but I have the book sitting on a shelf waiting to be read. I'll have to read it and then watch a Broadway recording. Then the movie. Or maybe I'll just start with the movie. The spouse was asking about watching it. Though we didn't know until recently that it was split into two parts. Thanks for the tip on how to find bootleg recordings!!! I've never heard of that phrase before.
I've seen the original Wizard of Oz multiple times. It was one of my Mom's comfort movies while I was growing up. So definitely not missing that. It's wild, that there are folks that haven't seen some stuff, but hey! They get to be one of the lucky 10,000! Never assume anything, but also have space, cause sometimes you have a fun chance to share something new for someone. :3
