LOOK WHAT I’VE GOT
Except for mating, male wolverines were said to be strictly solitary – too volatile and vicious to tolerate company of any kind, least of all male company. Females were held to be equally short-tempered and unsociable apart from the six months during which they reared their kits. After that, the young were supposedly on their own. Yet from tracking radio signals on other days, I’d already gathered evidence of older juveniles spending time with their mother now and then. I’d also found M1 traveling with one of his mates outside the breeding season – more than once, suggesting that the pair maintained a long-term bond with each other. Now I was documenting the case of a year-old youngster, already adult size, that had left its mother and gone on to hang out with Dad for a while – a sort of wolverine version of joint custody. What kind of mammal does that? None that I knew of other than Homo sapiens. Copeland had mentioned seeing juvenile wolverines of both sexes traveling with their father after leaving their mother’s side during a separate study that he’d carried out years earlier in Idaho. However, his observations of such behavior mainly involved one particular adult male, raising the question of whether or not this was an anomaly – unusual behavior by a single individual. Studying the intertwined tracks as I skied along in the wake of M1 and his son, I thought, No, what Copeland reported wasn’t a case of an odd wolverine. What seemed odd was that in the 21st century we understood so remarkably little about one of the most intriguing creatures to ever walk the wild.

A while back, I found this amazing bookstore a few hours away, where a sci-fi book by local authors was on display. I brought it to the counter, and the lady there told me the author was working at another store downtown where I could get it signed. I went to That store and we had such a cool conversation about writing and publishing, and the things I ended up wanting to purchase there she just gave me for free!
I'm finally reading that book, and I feel soooooo bad, because it's not great. I really, really wanted it to be great! The dialogue is like watching every 90s sci-fi movie, complete with stereotypes and caricatures. The villain basically only needs a mustache to twirl and a cat to pet. And he's not even interesting! It's painful, all of it's painful. But I got to get through it
My friend who taught in Kazakhstan told me about this!
I’ve also seen and tried kurt, it 100% could pass as stones on its own, I believe this
Wow, there’s a lot more books about ferrets (and especially about characters with pet ferrets) than I realized!! Most of them are indies, but that’ll be fun : D
