Day 2: Nightmares

Lisanna Strauss always liked her beauty sleep, she never slept less than eight hours if she could help it…

…unless it was nights like this.

Lisanna awoke to the whimpering she grew familiar with over the years, her eyes half-lidded as she groggily blinked to awareness.

The white-haired girl turned towards her husband who was tossing and turning, sweat dripping down his tan face.

It was a common occurrence as Natsu suffered from nightmares at least twice a week.

He liked to keep it a secret, under lock and key because of his pride, but Lisanna knew Natsu doesn’t do well alone…he never did.

She reached her pale hand to rest on top of his chest as she shook him awake, “Natsu? Natsu…love, come on…wake up!”

It took a few tries…it always did and Lisanna’s heart ached for him because she knew what happened in those dreadful nightmares…

…and when she finally got him up?

“ACK!”

Lisanna quickly moved her hand away as the pink-haired adult shot up, his eyes were blown wide and his bottom lip quivering.

She frowned, putting a hand on his shoulder, “It was just a dream…”

He stared at her blankly, trying to process her words in his barely awake brain.

Lisanna caressed his cheek, wiping a stray tear from his eye.

She pulled him into a hug, petting his cotton candy pink hair tenderly.

He would never admit it…buuuuut he has always been weak for cuddles…

“I know what’ll make you feel all better…I’ll be right back, okay?”

He just barely managed a nod and Lisanna was off.

She rushed to the kitchen, shoving bowls and ice cream containers onto the counters as she prepped the icy desserts.

Natsu always loved strawberry and chocolate…

…but for Lisanna? Vanilla or coconut was where it was at.

Happy poked in, “Lisanna?”

She smiled warmly at the blue exceed, “Natsu had a nightmare again.”

“He did? Is…he okay?”

Lisanna put a spoon in the bowls as she picked them up, “He will be…come cheer him up with me?”

Happy eyed the ice cream and he nodded, “but can I get fishies instead?”

“Of course, you can!”

Unbeknownst to the two, Natsu could hear them from the bedroom…they should really learn to remember to never forget about a dragon slayer’s nose.

A small smile graced his face and his heart swelled because sometimes he forgets the limits of his love for his family…

...and then things like this happen and he remembers…he loves them so much he could cry.

Lisanna and Happy ran in and with a goofy loud voice…they yelled...
