Why We Love It: There are very few sweet snacks out there that aren’t so sweet that they really should be called a dessert, and that aren’t granola or energy bars. I lived in the UK for over 5 years and until now, I haven’t understood why they called cookies biscuits. They were all as sweet as cookies! But not these. Now I finally get it. To me, these thin biscuits are somewhere between a cookie and a cracker. They can be eaten alone – so far I’ve only been able to eat all 4 biscuits in a package, not the 2 that equates to one serving – or paired with other fun foods to make them more snack-y (like cheese) or dessert-y (like ice cream or s’mores). They are soooo delicious with coffee. They truly taste like graham crackers, but without that gluey mush that gets stuck in the back of your throat. And of course, without the gluten – in fact their oats are grown in dedicated uncontaminated fields, so they are safe for celiacs.

Meet the Makers: Nairn’s has been around for ages, literally. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Nairn’s was established in 1896 by John & Sarah Nairn as a village bakery in Strathaven, Lanarkshire producing traditional oatcakes from local Scottish oats. Oatcakes have been sustaining Scottish people for a very long time. Being made almost exclusively of oats, the only cereal to flourish in the northern Scottish climate, they’re widely considered to be ‘the bread of Scotland’. Recipes for these versatile little cakes were handed down from generation to generation for centuries. Nairn’s products have been available in the USA for over 10 years and with these grahams, seem to be undergoing a bit of a re-definition.
