Top of the Pops . . . A great start for the @racingteamdmt - Portugal’s Tiago Ferreira & Jose Dias, and Germany’s Naima Diesner - at the Pretorian 3 stage MTB Race here in Vila Pouca de Aguiar .. . The 11km TT got under way at 4pm yesterday (Fri 16) in adverse weather conditions, but it was all sunny and smiley for the team.. with both Tiago and Jose take 1st and 2nd respectively and Naima taking 2nd in the podium, just 9 seconds back off first place. . Full Gaas. . . The 72km second stage of the @andaluciabikerace got under full swing under beautiful blue skies, starting and finishing in the town of Linares. . . With @tiago0ferreira taking 11th, @jose_dias31 14th and @hansbecking 6th, it was @naima.madlen who back at the business end. Starting off strong and holding a 4th place spot for 50km, the hilly course played in to Naima’s favour where she eventually took third spot and held the position until the finish line. Coming in just over 2 mins behind race leader, American Chloe Woodruff. . The @racingteamdmt took first place honours overall. . The Lanzarote wind wasn’t the only battle yesterday at the #4stagemtblanzarote .. In some parts the wind was gusting to 70kmps so the fight was on for the top3 spots on the female podium between Spain’s @maiafish, Scotlands Isla Short and Germany’s @naima.madlen .. . “Among the women, Spain’s Mayalen NORIEGA BELAUSTEGUIGOITIA (ESP) took the first place with only 1 minute to spare in front of second-placed Isla SHORT (GBR). It was a dramatic victory. “At first, we were going fine, along with the three top female leaders, then I hit a rock and fell, so I spent half of the race catching up with the rest. On the last two kilometers I took the lead and was able to pass Isla.” said Mayalen. It was unfortnate for Naima, though who finished 3rd, and less than a minute behind, getting caught behind some Age Group males thus missing the front pack. .
