Replaced a few of Amara's nail caps this morning. She's so annoyed with us right now.

actually, never put plastic nail caps on your cats. i don't advocate covering your cat's nails with anything- there are so many people who have glued those on their cats and when it was time for them to fall off, the nail caps stayed stuck. nail caps stifle a cats ability to extend and flex their paws naturally, and because it doesn't allow for the outer nail to shed, the caps cause the nails to grow thick and difficult to retract, resulting in a great deal of pain for the cat to walk on and retract. scratching is a very natural behavior for cats; they use their nails to scent mark their territory. you'll notice even declawed cats will try to scratch. by putting nail caps on a cat, you are stripping them of a natural behavior, which is partly why we oppose declawing is it not? instead of forcing your cat to not scratch, direct the behavior in appropriate areas, get scratching posts for them. don't force your cat to stop doing something natural just because it's undesirable to you. keep up with trimming nails and allow your cat to scratch in designated areas in peace! - sohane
