nazu loves rodents far more than most people think is reasonable.

hamsters, guinea pigs, mice—

if it's small and squeaks, she'll probably adore it.

the downside is that many of her belongings have been sacrificed in the process.

according to nazu:

according to the chewed-up charging cable:

out of all three siblings, nazu is generally considered the most "problematic" one.

not because she causes trouble.

or breaks rules.

or starts arguments.

in a deeply concerningly creative way.

"we never know what she's going to do."

nazu only started properly learning japanese in early middle school.

for a long time, she couldn't understand why her parents had never taught her sooner.

apparently, english became the family's default language because it was simply easier for everyone.

years later, nazu was forced to deal with the consequences.

"this feels like a long-term prank."

according to her parents:

mizuki never got annoyed when nazu looked at her test paper during exams.

mostly because she knew nazu wasn't cheating.

she was just looking.

"you're not even copying anything."

most of the time, nazu would stare at an answer for a few seconds, look away, and continue with her own test.

then, after the exam ended:

"why did you answer that question like that?"

mizuki would explain.

nazu would listen carefully.

and then immediately realize she got it wrong.

"oh."

"...i was wrong."

for almost two years, nazu and mizuki ended up in the same class.

then came third year.

different classrooms.

different homerooms.

different seats.

according to the teacher:

"looks like you're separated from your best friend this year."

"i think this was done on purpose."

according to everyone else:

before nazu learned japanese properly, she mostly spoke english at home.

for a while, her conversations consisted of:

40% english

30% indonesian

30% aggressive hand gestures

and somehow, it worked.

according to nazu:

nazu loves sweet food a little too much.

sometimes she has to hide from mizuki just so she can eat sugary snacks in peace.

otherwise, she'd end up listening to the same lecture for the fifth time that week.
