Nachania is a popular dance for the Indo-Jamaican community that is performed at Indian cultural gatherings that we call Indian sessions - this includes poojas, festivals such as Hussay, Diwali, Phagwaa and (not so much any more) weddings - or any celebration of Indian heritage. The dance was brought to Jamaica by Indians during Indentureship. The dance became creolized, not because it incorporated African or White elements into it, instead it initially became creolized because of the different regions/villages of India that the indenturers came from.
