I saw some bats the other day! May 29th at the Cincinnati Zoo! Some very active vampire bats and some eepy-sleepy fruit bats 🦇
They’re fuzzy quality but i still think the little guys are cute 🥰

i once ordered a shirt for a friend that said "bottom in the streets top in the sheets" with a rainbow on it and they had to contact me bc the rainbow i used didnt work so i had to choose a new one honestly nothing will ever top that embarrassment youll be fine

right?? it isnt generalizable at ALL and there are so many other factors that can explain their findings. also even from an evolutionary standpoint humans are a highly sociable species and friendship even among hetero opposite sex members serves the function of fulfilling the need for socialization. the study is also based on the theory that opposite sex friendship are a “new concept” like.. honey.. please

i looked a lil closer at the methods and apparently they intentionally only used heterosexual college students with friendships ranging from 2 weeks to 17 years and all i can think is “duh there are probably quite a few of those kids who want to date their new "friend” bc thats why they wanted to be friends in the first place like??“ honestly i think they skewed their own data and also that they should amend their statement to "hetero men and women cant be friends”

that is disappointing, gross, and in general just a really bad study just like UGGGGGGGH
there are SOME psychologists, with evolutionary psych backgrounds, that believe this (Bleske-Rechek et al. 2012 did a study on opposite sex friendships) because they believe that the "drive to mate" is so ingrained as an instinct that it overpowers any want to just be friends. they claim that while it may seem like a friendship "romace is lurking around the corner" personally it sounds like hetero nonsense to me with no true scientific base. also psychmind is very far from a reliable source ever
