Do you have any cool science (can be bat related!) resources for teachers?
your mileage may vary, but here's some links that might be useful:
Bat Chat: the Bat Conservation Trust Podcast - https://www.bats.org.uk/resources/batchat-the-bat-conservation-trust-podcast - Bat Conservation Trust is a organization based in the UK, with a focus on bats found in the UK. From their website: "BatChat is the award-winning podcast from the Bat Conservation Trust. The podcast was designed for BCT members as such it has something for everyone. It is free and we would encourage you to have a listen. It is produced and presented by Steve Roe, BCT trustee, who has been part of the bat conservation community since childhood. Steve talks to lots of different people ranging from academics, children’s book authors as well as local heroes to bring you the stories from across the bat conservation movement."
Zooniverse - https://www.zooniverse.org/ - Well-known and long-running site for parcipating in citizen science. Probably best for older teens and college students, I'm not sure if there's a minimum age requirement on the site beyond the standard thirteen.
Bat Squad - https://www.batcon.org/about-bats/games-and-activities/bat-squad/ - Bat Conservation International's Bat Squad has plenty for younger kids to learn about bats.
Bat World Sanctuary has quite a bit:
*Teacher Tools - https://batworld.org/teacher-tools/ - Free resources for teachers, all focused on bats, from quizzes to fun projects to edutainment.
*Educational Programs - https://batworld.org/educational-programs/ - Able to have a guest speaker? Bat World Sanctuary has educational programs, you can email them to ask about them. I'm not sure how that all works so there might be limits on what they're able to do. But there's an email so you can ask them.
*They're also working on getting the funding to build a classroom space at their location in Texas for field trips etc, so that's something for teachers near them to look forward to (here's the link to help contribute if you like: https://batworld.org/classroom/ )
Lubee Bat Conservancy has a fair bit too:
*Educational Resource - https://www.lubee.org/bat-education-resources - Free printouts and craft ideas
*Virtual tour - https://www.lubee.org/virtualbats - It does cost some money, but Lubee has a virtual version of their tours.
*Physical Tour - https://www.lubee.org/schoolbattour - Teach in or near Gainesville, Florida, and need a location for a field trip with bats? Lubee might be just the place to go.
