They say each day comes a lesson learnt and the choices we make can hurt Would I be who I was if not for these though?
Gorgon City, Naations - Let It Go
I told you I’d be sharing more tracks from the bundle of official remixes that dropped recently for Duke Dumont and Gorgon City’s Real Life. Not only do I love the original, which features emerging Australian duo NAATIONS on guest vocals, but the edits that came out last week have been bringing me much sonic pleasure and aural thrills, too. We’ve already partaken in Dillon Francis’ vivacious remix together. Let’s now turn to a drum and bass remix by Belgian label owner, radio host, and DJ/production talent Murdock. There’s no resisting this vibrant and swift drum and bass rolls. His remix conserves the classy chic UK house feel of the original but gives it some extra oomph with its staggered waves upon waves of beats and percussion. It feels like Disclosure, AlunaGeorge, and Rudimental got together on the track. You can stream the rest of the official Real Life remixes that surfaced last week on Duke Dumont’s Soundcloud, here.

If you haven’t heard Duke Dumont and Gorgon City’s summer hit Real Life yet, the new video they dropped this week is the perfect chance to get down to the buoyant banger. Plus, the stylish bop features Australian duo NAATIONS, that exciting project consisting of Van She’s Nicky Night Time and singer songwriter Nat Dunn whom we’ve been extolling this past year. Real Life was inspired by the beautiful Balearic setting of Ibiza. The official description of the song’s video states: “The video draws influence from the dystopian world that social media could create, delivering a visual experience not dissimilar to an episode of Black Mirror. Influenced by high school experiences, the video, directed by Ben & Ross (Kurupt FM, Ed Sheeran, Disclosure) highlights today’s obsession with likes, selfies and emojis. Reflecting on the track’s powerful sound and message of experiencing ‘Real Life’, the video comes to a head at a school prom when the shy girl being bullied harnesses technology and uses it to destroy the hierarchy of popularity, resulting in her becoming Prom Queen instead.” You can download and stream this massive pop and dance crossover hit, here.
