In my British Mascots AU; mascot characters are basically a bit like Toys in Toy Story where they are secretly alive and have their own little world separate from most human's perception
Also, in the same AU, Park Resorts Naarky here and modern Parkdean Naarky are separate characters and Park Resorts Naarky leaves his job as an entertainment mascot to write a PhD on weather technology could bridge the gap between the mascot and human world to benefit where mascots struggle as a species; that's Dr Nigel Naark Vaark to you (yes blue fur Naarky and black fur Naarky are separate pople in this universe)
