Thank you @gioia-writes-and-others for the Seven Sentence Sunday Wednesday tag! I'm answering it on Tuesday just to keep things fresh. Here are seven sentences that I wrote last night when I was supposed to be sleeping.

Once in the main road, I threw the little device as hard as I could at the ground in the path of a horse-drawn cart, breaking the glass and scattering the liquid on the cobblestones. Obligingly, the horse brought its broad hoof down on the clockwork, demolishing it into pieces. Get cover! Destroying a charged phylactery is extremely… dangerous? Nothing happened. A few more carts ran over the broken pieces of the false phylactery, crunching gears and bits of glass under hoofs and wooden wheels. I cast a rude gesture to the debris, then receded from its sight, trodding down the alley toward my room.

"Maybe. I don't know. Something isn't adding up." Desperate to change the subject, I said, "Since I have you here, I've been wanting to ask—why would you accept soulless-me's demand to take him to Wolfshead? Don't you have business in Prydeir?"

She shrugged. "I don't know. My schedule's not exactly packed, but yeah, I don't feel like taking a sudden trip south. Maybe he's really persuasive. But you're changing the subject."

I scoffed. "You got it."

With that, she stood and retreated to her pile of cushions.

"Dawnbird!" she exclaimed. "I've seen both your days already."

"Lucky number three," I agreed. "I have a message for you. Hi."
