   They had both been quiet for what seemed like ages now – the fall nights offered clear night skies that lit up with millions of tiny stars. Thomas had been spacing out, his mind wandering as his eyes traced shapes in the star trails and the outline of the moon. He had almost missed Newt’s words, but at the last moment turned his head to meet the blond’s eyes. Of course it took him a moment to process the words before his cheeks flushed lightly – and for once he thanked that they were surrounded in darkness. “ You’re blind” was all he could muster to reply, glancing down at his lap before shaking his head clearly embarrassed. “I’m not”

   Newt and Thomas had been spending a night together and things had been

     normal for an extended amount of time before he spoke those words from

     his lips. Newt had no idea where they came from, but there was something

     about the way the light of the moon cast upon his pale skin and brunet hair

     that made Thomas look like he was glowing. For some reason, all he could

     do was stare at him and he wanted to do far more than stare at the brunet

     once the pale complexion of his cheeks breaks out in a bright red, eyes

     silently widening in the midst of it all. Thomas more than likely thought that

     Newt couldn’t see him, but the moon was moving in his favor, lighting right

     on him once his cheeks burned red. “Like hell I am, Tommy. Ya’ really are

          Paradise was everything but what it claimed to be. It was safe; it           was a place they could live as normally as possible, away from the hatred and           disease--but it was far from “paradise”. It wasn’t HOME, and it never would be. Not           to him. Despite being surrounded by literally hundreds of other people, it always           seemed to feel empty, as if it were missing something--

                    Or, someone.

          They had lost too many people, too many friends, to get to this so-called paradise,           and at times Newt wondered if it was even worth the effort. Alby. Chuck. Winston.           Hell, even Teresa should have been there with them. But, life had other plans. Fate           wasn’t in their favor--never seemed to be. The only thing they could do was live on           in their absence, try to swallow down the GUILT of survival. Sometimes it left an           awful taste in his mouth.

          “Thomas.” Too lost in thought, as usual, Newt had nearly forgotten he’d           been with the brunet. This “paradise” they found themselves in was basically           just a lot of open land surrounded by forest; not too different from the Glade,           actually. He and Thomas hadn’t done much exploring ( in Newt’s case he           simply hadn’t found the will to do much of anything since they arrived ), so           they had been wandering around some of the unmarked territory for about           thirty minutes, trying to see if they could find anything that could be of use to           them. They hadn’t had too much luck.
