sooo fascinating to me how sore morel is so bitterly and explosively against the dead that came back to rule the living and everything they stand for (and let me be clear, for good fucking reason), and yet at the same time him and his company are carrying around the figurehead of his old wrecked ship wherever they travel—literally keeping on dragging the past after them in their own way!!

already so fucking obsessed with how purposefully owhe describes conquest and subjugation in terms of parental authority to paint them as “righteous” and even “benevolent”. godddddd the feeling of helplessness and injustice it evokes is so good<3 a whole nation stripped of power and agency “for their own good” and reduced to a child that supposedly doesn’t know any better……. the horror and insidiousness of paternalism foreverrrrrrrrr‼️

can’t stop thinking about this moment……. like yes there has always been genuine love, that much is true and undeniable, but the way from the very beginning Dogged was a goddamn symbol to Morel:(( it’s one thing to find hope and pride in your child, it’s another thing to perceive her as some idolized showpiece to try and make up for all the bitterness and disappointment you have for the world………
