Our first site crash is OVER - Thanks to all!
Great news, guys! We’re back up & running!
If you missed it: My Switchfeed has been slow/shutting down for a few days now. A few hours ago, we pulled all of the users off of the site for a re-structure and survey to find out what the problem was. After spending hours attempting to navigate through the broken website and contacting dozens of techies, we located the problem! As it turns out, we were infected with some bad SPAM! These robots have been invading the switchfoot world and dropping big, lousy comments – hundreds at a time! While this didn’t shut the site down (although it did make me quite annoyed to have to sort through), there were so many robots roaming the site that our CPU and user usage was sky high! Anybody remember the switchfoot website crash back in July ’11? So many fans flocked to the site to hear “Dark Horses” that the entire site was overloaded for hours! The same thing happened over here, except with pesky robotic turds, not fans.
But anyways, the point is that we’re back. I’d like to thank everyone who helped out over here and all of the tech support-ers who listened to my mad rambles about spam!
We’ll be back tomorrow with a late Song of the Week and a few aussie posts.
