- I'm really sorry to ask this, but is it part of autism to get really frustrated or irritated easily by stupid things and start crying? I've done this all my life but -only recently did I start to think it was weird, one instance is I HAVE to open Bandaid packages a certain way and if they aren't opened like that I'll start crying. There's also a bunch of other symptoms I have and I was suggested to have asd, but I'm just really confused and need some help, thank you...
The one you mentioned sounds like a routine thing to me, though in general it could be anxiety. That doesn’t mean you aren’t autistic as well though - Mod Liz (who has anxiety)
- So, I've been looking around and can't really find much, but when I was younger, after every sentence I said, I would whisper the same sentence over again. I don't think it's echolalia because I read that echolalia is only repeating things from other people/sources
Echolalia can be repeating your own words, I think.
- Just wondering, I know one of the symptoms of autism is difficulty recognising facial expressions, but I was wondering if it could also make it difficult to recognise people. Like, I'll stare at someone because I'm trying to figure out if I know them or if they just look like someone I know. Could this be an autistic thing or would it just be my bad vision?
That’s called face blindness/prosopagnosia. It can be related to autism or other things, too.
-iiaat when you get overwhelmed with just one emotion? Like even if I'm having a good day one little thing will upset me and I'm upset for the rest of the day. My mom jokes that I'm tinker Bell, too small to handle more than one emotion at a time
I don’t think this is a specifically autistic thing. Reminds me more of BPD. ???? Other mods, what do you think ???
Could be a lot of things tbh
- Itaat where ever since I was little and was starting to read if I accidentally missed a letter/letter sound in a word (even when I was reading in my head) I would have to aggressively make the sound of that letter out loud over and over again for the next hour? 💁🏽👶🏽
I think this sounds more like ADHD/OCD thing. I am not sure. Other mods???
I do this to a lesser extent because I have a whole thing about failure/mistakes as part of my PTSD
