Welcome to this week’s edition of #techtuesday. Did you know if you’re NOT paying for your music or video subscription (either directly or through a service such as Amazon Prime Music, Spotify, Netflix or Hulu where it may be included in a “bundled” subscription rate) or using a free well-known ad-sponsored service such as Pandora, then it is very likely that you are accessing the content ILLEGALLY and will eventually be a recipient of a copyright infringement notice?  BitTorrent is the most common source of copyright infringements, and copyright owners are getting more aggressive about protecting their work.  All Internet providers are required to enforce actions against customers doing this sort of activity. Don’t risk losing your Internet service over illegal file sharing of any kind. Fortunately, Mid-Rivers offers tools to help monitor your usage. Each customer’s bill is now equipped with a chart that breaks down exactly how your Internet is being used. You can also view that information through our My Mid-Rivers app on your Apple or Android tablet or smartphone. If you see any kind of BitTorrent traffic on that chart, you may be at risk of receiving an infringement notice.
