I love my office. It makes me feel creative, excited and fulfilled. It’s because I love the work I do. All of the areas I do are passion projects. Building and enhancing the community. Holding the hands of busy mums so they can find calm in the chaos of motherhood & life. Being creative. Honestly it lights me up coming in here. But on a Friday I like to shut up my laptop clean off my desk and have a clean and hoover. It’s like the signal to end my working week. Meet The Gallaghers
Hi, we are the Gallaghers: Mom (me) - Olivia, Dad- Pete, and our rugrat Lil’ Pete (Peter Jr.) Although our clan only runs 3 deep at the moment, we are expecting another in a few months. And, we just found out…It is a girl!
During the day, I run a small bakery out of our home, while Pete designs for an architecture firm downtown. We try to spend every second of free time as a family. And, lately, we’ve been diving into Lil’ Pete’s most recent obsession with animals. Last week, we went to the zoo, and now Lil’ Pete is convinced he’s a fox. Here is the toy we just got him from IKEA.
I think he is hoping his new little sister will arrive in fox form. How will I console him when a boring old human pops out?
Lil’ Pete keeps me pretty busy, and with the other one on the way, I’ve been consumed with baby room plans and designs. We only have a few months before the new lil’ nugget arrives, and we’re hoping for a holiday delivery. Christmas baby! This season should be particularly special, as we’re hosting family for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think Kevin is bringing his new puppy for Christmas, which will be much to Lil’ Pete’s delight.
As part of My-Ikea holiday story series, we are super excited to let you into our lives for the next few months as we prepare for our little girl’s arrival! We’ll be posting how-to’s, style ideas, and general preparations as we head into the holiday season with a bun in the oven.
Meet Kevin
Hi, my name is Kevin. I am 26 years old, living in the great city of Chicago. I work at a small advertising agency in the heart of downtown, but my real passion is cooking. I love the way the different aromas and sounds blend together in the kitchen. I also enjoy hands-on activities and DIY projects when I’m not at work. I often spend nights out on the town with co-workers but love making memories with close friends on nights in. I always look forward to visits from my sister. We both love art so she’s a good companion for gallery-hopping. I also have a Welsh Terrier named Bruno who is four-years-old; he has made me completely understand the saying ‘mans best friend.’
Bruno and I have roughed it together for a couple years in a crowded three-bedroom apartment, where I lived with my two best friends, but I have finally saved up enough to move out and into an apartment of my own. Now that I will be out on my own for the first time, I’m getting nervous about making the leap into adulthood. Nevertheless, I am excited to have an apartment just for me—well, an apartment just for Bruno and me. I have a few pieces of furniture to bring with me from my old place, but my apartment does not yet feel like a home. Although this time of my life is daunting, I know this new space will be the stage for future memories to come. I’m looking forward to the journey ahead of me and excited to share it here on My-Ikea Stories.
