horrible moring replete with health / insurance struggles, but I bounced back in the afternoon to get a few things done

🗺 work session at the neighborhood library; re-strategized my lit review and planned the next steps in the drafting process

📖 started reading a book on foraging and noted some plants of interest

last weekend before moving!

🌿 went tubing with my friends, it was my fourth summer going out to the river

💃🏻 visited some museums with my partner (favorite exhibits: bronzes and buffalo) and went dancing at our usual club

🍳 made a lot of interesting drinks while trying to use things up before moving. the pinnacle was some strawberry atole i brought back from CDMX

🗺 met with my advisor to review my proposal and got some useful feedback re: walking the first research question back to be more descriptive, justifying my comparative cases, etc.

I'm really excited to start the semester!

I also did a lot of non-academic activities, but I find that seemingly unrelated things often come back up and inspire new directions in my research.

💃🏻 went back to one of my favorite art museums and enjoyed a new exhibit on historical tapestry conservation + visited a lot of habitats at the zoo

🤸🏻‍♂️ went on an initially nice sunset run by the water but tripped and bashed up my left side, oops, so have mainly been walking a lot while everything heals

🗺 drafted a section on a new research question / methods for my proposal

🤸🏻‍♂️ went for a very humid trail walk with my partner

got a bunch of chores and apartment maintenance done but didn't have time to come back to my research proposal... hopefully some time off will

🤸🏻‍♂️ swam 1.25 km at the neighborhood pool

entering a new stage of conflict with 1) my landlord — who re-keyed the mailroom without telling half the tenants — and 2) the mouse that emerges every two months to run over my feet while I slowly watch The Crown...

BUT I also

🗺 started reformulating the first research question for my proposal based on some newly available data and read a few more relevant papers

+ enjoyed working at the main library downtown, including some time on the rooftop : )

🧶 nearly finished my final knit flag project (just one more star to go!)

🗺 worked more on my personsl statement and got comments back on my research plan outline from my advisor! need to revise my questions a bit

🧶 finished my slipstitch... cloth? because it's too narrow to be a placemat
