❤️ Red Lights & Red Ties
Unsurprisingly, the beta does score the winning goal. Not that the other team had much of a chance against them. Ever since Liam joined their college lacrosse team, they were on an undefeated streak. No one had bothered to question it, the entire team all too happy to get the ball to Liam and lagging behind as he scored again and again. Theo is dragged to the team celebratory dinner, complaining the entire time that he drives a sweaty and giddy Liam to the restaurant. Adjusting to being human again was already hard enough, but it was moments like this that really made him miss being a part of the supernatural. He can barely smell Liam, he can’t tell how he’s feeling, or smell the ever comforting scent of the beta. Theo keeps it to himself, refusing to ruin the high of his final win of the season. But he really should know better by now, he can’t keep anything from Liam.
“Something is bothering you.” The beta has turned in his seat to look at him as he turns down the music playing from the stereo.
“No, I’m fine.” Theo lies, unable to keep his heart from ticking up. Liam gives him an unamused look.
“I know you’re lying and I don’t like it.” He huffs out a breath. Never once did Theo imagine that he would lose everything that he had learned while living with the Dread Doctors. But he did, and he would do it all over again if it meant that Liam got to live a long and happy life. The cab is quiet for a while as Theo tries to figure out the best way to tell the beta without admitting any kind of weakness to him.
“I…” He forces himself to take a deep breath in order to collect his thoughts. “I can’t smell you.” The words come out low and quiet almost like they won’t carry the weight of what he means behind them if they aren’t spoken too loud. Liam tilts his head to the side, a look of confusion on his face.
“Uhm you definitely can since I didn’t get the chance to shower before we left.” Theo shakes his head as tears of frustration burn behind his eyes. He doesn’t understand how Liam can be so perceptive one moment and completely oblivious the next. Most of the time he finds it charming, amusing even, but at this moment he wishes that the werewolf would just figure out what he means.
“That’s not what I mean.” The beta still looks confused and he knows that he’s going to have to come out and say it if he wants him to understand.
“I can’t smell you. I don’t know what you’re thinking or what you’re feeling. I can barely remember what your scent smells like.” Theo sounds almost distressed, his grip tightening on the wheel as they idle at a red light. Understanding is written across Liam’s face and he rests a comforting hand on the human’s thigh.
“You don’t need that to know what I’m thinking.” A humorless laugh leaves Theo, but he presses on.
“Theo, you know me better than anyone else does.” He glances over at him, barely biting back a sniffle at the openness on Liam’s face. He knows that he’s right and there’s a small part of him that hates it. Silence settles between them as he continues driving. It isn’t necessarily uncomfortable, but it isn’t the usual kind of silence that falls between them when they’re driving together.
“I miss the way you smell.” He quietly admits as he pulls into the parking lot. Liam seems to contemplate something for a moment before pulling out his phone and sending a text to someone. Theo is mildly upset that he’s just admitted something so vulnerable and the beta seems to be ignoring it.
“Let’s go home.” He stares at him like he didn’t hear him correctly, but Liam doesn’t say anything else.
“Li, no, you’re supposed to go celebrate with your team.” He weakly tries to argue. If he’s completely honest with himself, he would much rather go back to his apartment with Liam and shut the entire world out. The beta shakes his head.
“No, my boyfriend needs me more than my team needs to celebrate.” Something warm and unfamiliar settles in his chest. Theo doesn’t know what to do with the feeling or even how to identify what it is. But he knows that hearing Liam choose him over his teammates is making him feel important.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to ruin your night just because I’m feeling a bit melancholy.” Liam’s face scrunches up in confusion.
“I don’t know what that word means, but I do know that I’m sure I’d rather spend the rest of the night with you.” Theo laughs softly.
“It’s not important.” The beta huffs softly.
“Keep your fancy words to yourself then.” He grumbles softly. The air around them feels lighter as Theo drives them back to his apartment.

Theo still texts him pictures, especially when he knows that they aren’t going to be able to meet up and Liam is going to be stuck in classes all day. And today is one of those days. Not because he has Liam’s schedule memorised, that would be a tad obsessive.
🍑: How is your class going?
Liam: so gdm borin i hate scinc
🍑: Maybe this will make it better
Theo leans back against the shower wall, snapping a picture of his soapy torso. The overhead light gleams off of the silver bars and the bubbles. He sends it to him before setting his phone down and rinsing off.
Liam: fuck u
He doesn’t see the message until he’s out of the shower, but he does smirk when he reads it.
🍑: You could if you weren’t stuck in class today. I’m the only one home.
Liam: u kno i cant ditch class
🍑: Can’t? Or won’t?
There’s a part of him that hopes that he can convince the other man to ditch his class, but so far it hasn’t worked. And not for a lack of trying on his part. Theo has sent him some of his best pictures, but Liam never takes the bait. He grabs some clothes out of his closet, deciding that he’ll just binge watch something until Josh gets home and they can study for some of their upcoming tests. The sweats are soft and worn from years of use. They aren’t originally his, but ones that he stole from Liam one of the times he stayed over. He crawls into bed as he turns on his television.
Liam: not ditching bt mas is stying at cory’s 2night
Theo perks up a little at that.
🍑: Is that an invitation?
Liam: if u want it 2 b
He sighs as he leans back against his pillows. Obviously, he wants it to be an invitation but he wants Liam to come out and say it. Not drop it like it’s some kind of hint that he’s just supposed to take.

Theo locks his phone before tossing it onto his bed. He scrolls through Netflix, looking for anything that will hold his attention for at least a little while. Nothing jumps out at him and he feels himself growing annoyed as he scrolls through an unimaginable number of history documentaries. He eventually settles on some trashy reality show that he isn’t really interested in, but it’s better than seeing shows that make him think of Liam.
💍 My Sun, My Moon, My Truth
They’ve been to three separate venues and nothing has felt like the right spot. Theo is beginning to grow frustrated that they won’t find the perfect venue. The beta doesn’t seem nearly as bothered by it. They go to a cute little dinner for lunch. The chimera orders something small, his stomach in too many knots to try and keep down anything more than that.
“You don’t like the venues we’ve looked at.” Liam cuts to the chase as the waitress leaves to put their order in. His cheeks flush at the easy way the beta knows him. Sometimes he forgets that Liam seems to know him better than he knows himself, most of the time at least. He slides father down into the booth as he shoots a heatless glare at Liam.
“No.” He grumbles out. Liam doesn’t say anything for a few moments, watching his fiancee instead.
“What haven’t you liked?” Theo stares at him for a moment before listing off the things he didn’t like. One of them didn’t have enough natural light, one had too much natural light, they didn’t match the idea of what he wanted for the wedding, or they didn’t look anything like the pictures that had been in the brochure. All in all, they had been terrible in his opinion. Theo sighs softly as their food is set down in front of them.
“We still have two more to go look at and I’m…” The chimera trails off. “I’m scared that they aren’t going to be what I want either.” Liam leans closer, reaching out and holding his hand.
“If you don’t like those ones then we’ll keep looking.” He gently strokes his thumb across the back of his hand.
“I want you to have everything that you want for our wedding.” Theo sniffles a little, gently wiping away the tears that have slipped down his cheeks.
“We have a budget, Liam. I can’t have everything that I want.” The beta looks sheepish as he rubs the back of his neck.
“So listen, mom overheard us talking about the wedding.” Theo raises a brow at him, hoping that the werewolf isn’t about to say what he thinks he is.
“Her and David want to pay for the wedding.”
“No.” Theo shakes his head before Liam has even finished his sentence.
“I tried to tell her that, but she insisted and I didn’t want to argue with her. Plus she brought David into it and I can’t argue with both of them.” The chimera makes a mental note to speak with David when he gets back to work. He refuses to take a hand out from his future in-laws.
Especially for their wedding.

When Theo wakes, he finds that he's been dressed and is alone in the room. There's a cold bottle of water on the nightstand, his phone is plugged in and there's a note. He slowly eases himself up into a sitting position, hissing out a breath when he feels something press against his prostate. Theo holds himself still, nervous to shift too much and press the plug against it again.
When did it get put in? He tries to remember but he can't remember anything past hearing Liam call him a good boy. Deciding to push it away for now, he sips from the water bottle and stares at the note. The small slip of paper seems to taunt him.
What if it's Liam saying that what happened was a mistake?
Or that he's resigning from his position as his PR manager?
He leaves it there and gets up to get dressed for the interview he has tonight. The silence of the room follows him, leaving him with more than enough time to be with his thoughts. Something that he isn't exactly thrilled about.
Sex is one of the few things he's good at, but he's never bottomed for anyone and it has him second guessing everything that happened with the other man. The note continues to taunt him so much so that he's unable to decide on something to wear and he sits down to read it. His hands tremble as he picks up the sticky note.
Don't take it out.

Theo stares at the note, heating rushing to his cheeks. There’s nothing else written there, just the command. He doesn’t even think to ignore it but instead makes the choice to listen. He wants to know where this is going, what Liam is thinking or what he wants from him. Theo grabs clothes out of his bag without bothering to look at what he took out. His clothes are tossed onto the bed and he’s surprised to find that he’s wearing a different pair of panties.
