explanation of my visualization of sektor + cyrax's relationship
so basically, it goes like this
cyrax was taken in by the lin kuei when he was very young, around seven, due to his parents having been murdered in cold blood
at the time he could only speak tswana (this would explain why in-game he has an accent, while no other lin kuei members seem to have any accent), and so when the lin kuei took him in they first taught him english
sektor was only around three years older than him and ended up becoming his mentor
thus, he was responsible for teaching cyrax how to:
cyrax showed himself as time went on to be incredibly intelligent, often doing things on his own, such as making ameture explosives out of what he could find
eventually, around the time he and sektor were both eighteen and twenty-one, respectively, they were allowed on their first mission together, as a test to see if cyrax was ready to be a full-fledged warrior of the lin kuei
the mission was hugely successful and cyrax was made to a full warrior
he and sektor lost contact for years after that, and while sektor simply stayed where he was, brooding about everything and whatnot, cyrax was constantly seeking to better himself and his skills, often spending entire nights at the library, studying the books that the temple had
he became very good at science, math, and chemistry, and ended up being able to make incredibly lethal bombs, poisons, and other things with just a few simple ingredients
he and sektor only started talking once again when one day sektors flamethrowers malfunctioned and he went to cyrax, because cyrax was about the only person he knew would be able to fix them without a doubt
admittedly he was rather harsh in demanding they be fixed, but that's because his father was an abusive tyrant
as in, threatening to kill sektor on a regular basis if sektor wasnt absolutely perfect
sektor ended up being so cold and harsh because he was trying to live up to his father's standards and didn't know kindness
cyrax didn't exactly know about all of this but he knew well enough that sektor needed kindness
so, he did as was asked and fixed the flamethrowers and just in general kept a polite and kind attitude towards sektor
sektor had zero (0) clue on how to respond, and left baffled
he kept finding excuses to meet with cyrax again though due to rather enjoying the kindness
after a long while the two formed some sort of friendship, spending increasing amounts of time together and going on missions togrther
lots of the other lin kuei members were worried for cyrax (since they hadn't seen the other side of sektor) and told him to get away from sektor
cyrax admittedly got rather defensive over sektor and eventually people just left it be
their relationship didn't actually start until a few years after they became friends
blah blah blah they went on a mission, both ended up almost dying and they realized how much not only life means to them but how much they mean to each other
pretty basic and stereotypical but shruggy
so fast forward a while and now it's around mk9
their relationship is starting to fall apart because of the cyber initiative
sektor is only agreeing to do it because of his father
he eventually convinces (moreso pressures) cyrax into doing it as well only because he's actually terrified of going into it alone, though he claims it's because it'll "help the both of them, and continue to make their relationship flourish"
he was terrified of going into the unfeeling, cold abyss that he knew going cyber would be
but he was even more terrified of going in alone, and cyrax was the only person he trusted
the night before they both went cyber, sektor and cyrax made love and afterwards sektor begged cyrax to, no matter what may happen, never stop loving him, and to know that he'll always love him
about a week went by of them being cyber and it was all nice, sektor had killed his father and thought he had gotten the last laugh
but, it was his father to get the last laugh
his father had installed a programming onto him that, at a random time, would completely erase his humanity, emotions, ect
after a week that happened
he was a ruthless killing machine that was determined to make anyone and everyone a cyborg, and to make sure that everyone obeyed
well, cyrax still had his humanity through all of this,
he at first tried to bring sektor back
but that didn't work and the now completely, for lack of better word use, zombified sektor became increasingly terrible
at first he started belittling cyrax, to try to make him be loyal to the initiative
calling him worthless, pathetic, stupid, ect
then when that didn't work he started the physical torture
cyrax in canon is the shortest but heaviest cyborg so that's why i came up with this part
sektor would literally tear cyraxs organs out and replace them with artificial parts, and other horrible things
everything cyrax would do in mk9 story mode when he's cyborg was not out of programming
and yet even though he eventually died from the torture, he didn't stop hoping for sektor and loving him
because he was a man of his words and he promised sektor that he wouldn't stop hoping
and then of course sektor was killed too and maybe theyre finally happy in the afterlife again idk man who knows lmao
