Vulnerability is a wicked mistress; insidious in all her decadence, whispering sweetened affections craved by even the condemned.  Aphrodite names it her folly that she has allowed temptation  to  overcome sense. Arguments of matter and mind are infinitesimal in maddened occasions. But the shade of night will peel away  all  reason, if only to divulge the most grotesque and  converted  parts  of the self.  Limb would effortlessly entangle limbs in some crooked belonging.  Face burrows in junction between shoulder  and  neck, that  spot  in  which she knows she might always find that damnable comfort she  so oft denies.  Such open displays of fragility are sparse, saved but  for times of true instability --- times where constitutions are caught  on the waning fringes of madness.  ❝ I’m t i r e d. So save your ridicules for the morning, hm? ❞ Her pride will suffer what it may, but for now she need only seek  the consolation only one  so vile as he can provide. ( but inquire  arises: is it out of kinship she draws to  him,  or is it birthed from a softer nature she would so readily repel were he  any  other? )
