Lena awoke in pain. This wasn’t unusual, she often had pain after intense training session, but this was different. Her ankle was throbbing and so was her upper thigh.

Lifting the thin blanket she slept under, Lena hissed. That burn that she hadn’t paid any attention to was angry and red looking and clearly more serious than she’d thought. And her ankle had swollen to the size of a football it looked like.

“Bollocks.” She grunted, carefully sitting herself up and fitting her accelerator back to her chest carefully. She needed to go and see Dr Ziegler, but she had a feeling that trying to walk on that ankle would end in her crying in the hallway. She needed a makeshift crutch. Or better...

It was difficult to knock on the door, but Lena managed it, grinning with pride at her plan. She’d hopped her way over to the wheely desk chair in her room and had wheeled her way through the base to Angela’s office. She was still in her pyjama’s, grey shorts and a t-shirt that had belonged to an old girlfriend. Which was about three sizes too big and hung down over the hem of the shorts. Which, thankfully, hid a good portion of the burn from view for now.

McCree leaned back and yawned waiting for her to get on with whatever she wanted to tell him. He had been intentionally avoiding her since the recall. Now he was a bit trapped.
