Ukuphumula ngokuthula, Albert Lutuli.  The first African to receive the Nobel Peace Prize (and first recipient from somewhere other than Europe or the Americas), Lutuli was a staunch anti-apartheid leader and elected president of the African National Congress (in which role, he met with Senator RFK during his visit to South Africa in 1966).  Mvumbi died on this date in 1967 at the age of 69 (or thereabouts), long before apartheid was finally dismantled in 1991.
