If you read Claremont’s X-Men and your main take on mutants is Wolverine/Cyclops, then you need to get your eyes checked. Cyclops is off being a piss-baby for 15 years of comics and the only one who can put up with him is Angel. Meanwhile Wolverine and Nightcrawler are having private tickle time in the woods. Do the math, people. 

I also went to public school when my mutations manifested (and after). I wore contacts and heavy-duty makeup for years so no one would know, even into college where I was before Sentinel Services nabbed me. I'm well aware of how special both levels of Xavier's school is, because without it I wouldn't be able to get a college degree at all! And there's no doubt, the opportunities of having mutant-specific classes (Imma post a copy of the coursebook soon actually!) and teachers who have incredible life experience is amazing.

That all said, there's not rlly a whole, system to the school or a standard of teaching. And while it's a waaay better place for mutants than rlly anywhere else, that doesn't mean we shouldn't wish for it to be better than it is.

mim+ is mutants/inhumans/mutates/+. the mutant community is its own thing, and inhumans/mutates/etc. don’t belong in it as we don’t face the same experiences and oppression as mutants, but we all do face similar experiences and oppression (especially non-mutant non-humans who have more visible non-human traits) so there’s a larger and broader community for all of us to stand in solidarity together.
