day 13
we are on part 2 of the course! now we will be producing a track solely from samples of sounds that we’ve created/recorded.
andrew showed us some examples of finding sounds in the kitchen, and i went to my kitchen and recorded about 40ish sounds, thinking of what kind of drum beat, tone, or texture they could turn into. below is a snapshot of some of the samples i recorded.
from there, i watched an hour video lesson where andrew went through his process of translating those samples into a loop. WOW in even just 15 minutes of the video, i learned so much on how to change an ordinary kitchen sound into something completely different, such as a pot hit into a deep sounding kick drum sound.
i am pretty pooped from just finding sounds to record, and learning and taking notes from the video lesson.
tomorrow i am going to organize my samples, trimming them down and adding some effects. we will need to upload our progress of our first loop by tuesday. this will be a fun project (but surely not without its frustrations!!!) for me to REALLY go out of my comfort zone, as adding effects was one of the toughest struggles for me in creating the last track.
