26. a song that taught you a lesson

oh boy. oh boyyyy. i hope you know how long i thought about this before deciding on one to talk about

so there's this musical that i got into like...early summer of last year? it's called FANGIRLS and it's basically about fans of one direction, only the band is called true connection. the plot is wild and i'd definitely recommend checking it out, but the last song is what stands out to me.

it's called "Maybe We're More" and it's basically a mashup of a lot of songs in the show - it reprises a ton of them, is what i mean. this song was my Thing for a few months there. to me it's different because it talks about how these girls who Really Like the thing that they're into are treated poorly just because they're fangirls and they're "cringy" (although the word isn't used). the show, but that song in particular, lets them be silly and over-the-top, but also genuinely angry about how they're treated.

okayokayokay. ironically: "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by john denver. my family and i traveled a lot for a block of about a year when i was younger and we had a tour guide somewhere who drove us around, and he had one (1) usb stick w music on it - so we heard this song so. many. times. it became basically an inside joke and now i laugh whenever i hear it <3
