These Upside-Down Mushroom Tartlets are a delightful appetizer or snack. The savory combination of mushrooms, onions, and cheese nestled in flaky puff pastry creates a satisfying treat.
Ingredients: 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed. 2 cups sliced mushrooms. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 2 tablespoons olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste. 1/2 cup grated cheese Gruyere or Swiss. Fresh thyme leaves for garnish.
Instructions: Warm the oven up to 190C 375F. Put olive oil in a pan and heat it over medium-low heat. Put in the garlic and onions, and cook them until they get soft. Season the mushrooms with salt and pepper after adding them to the pan. It's done when the mushrooms are soft and most of the liquid is gone. Cut the puff pastry sheet into circles that are just a bit bigger than the tartlet molds. Put a small amount of the mushroom mixture into each tartlet mold. Then, cover the mushrooms with grated cheese. Place a circle of puff pastry over each mold and tuck the edges under the mushrooms. The pastry should be baked in a hot oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until it is golden brown and crisp. Let the tartlets cool a bit before carefully flipping them over onto a plate to serve. Before serving, sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves.
