"You and I, Sam, are still stuck in the worst places of the story, and it is all too likely that some will say at this point: 'Shut the book now, dad; we don't want to read any more.'"
— Frodo, The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers, Book IV
You know, in every good story there is that one moment, often referred to as the "despair event horizon", where it seems all is lost, the hero is doomed (or dead!), and you're just left wondering "WTF - now what?" This, of course, is merely a plot device to set up either what is termed the "Deux ex Machina" (God in the machine) or the "Big Damn Heroes" device - a turning point, where good ultimately triumphs over evil. This equally true of made for TV dramas, and yes, even reality TV shows - like the one we're living in now!
I know it feels like the devil has taken over the brains of some of your friends and family members, and that we are on the edge of losing our republic to this Manson-esque cult of personality, but take heart. It is said that all it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to stand by and do nothing, and though it may seem that we are living in such a time, the truth is that just because you lose a battle here and there, it doesn't mean you've lost the war. The real enemy in this moment is despair, the enemy within, and we must fight it with all the courage of our convictions, lest we lose heart and succumb to the darkness. Good men and women are doing something! We will not give up in this moment. New subpoenas will be issued, ongoing investigations will... ongo, and we will drag this petty little weasel of an orange McDictator kicking-and-screaming into the light and HOLD him to account. The emperor has no clothes, and it has been reliably reported by a leading authority that he has a tiny little mushroom dick.
Plus... he's really OLD. No story lasts forever, and as with every story, each man comes to an end. As John Lennon so eloquently stated, "Time wounds all heels." The cult of Trump* will die, either before him, or in his old man's bed with him. History will judge him, and his henchmen, harshly; and our grandchildren will revile the name Trump* for the fallen house that it is. If they remember it at all.
