#muse crafting

So I've been toying around with yet another RWBY muse idea (not my fault the verse is fun to make characters for despite the state of canon, but who cares about that we're here to have fun). You may have seen my posts about an Alice in wonderland like character. The problem has always been how to make a character like that especially with a pesudo reality warping semblance the original idea had. Well I think I found a solution to that. The new "original" semblance (will explain later) will be one that allows her to shrink and enlarge objects in her vicinity, roughly within 10 ft of her, and of course no effect on living things nor anything only held by other living things. It has to be her touching it or not touching anybody for it to work. This is based off of the real life condition where people perceive things to be of a different size than they actually are. So this semblance has a variety of uses in and out of combat.

To explain my use of the word "original" with her semblance to make it closer to the reality warping idea I originally had I figured her semblance could be corrupted to a degree where it starts to affect things in a different way. This would be due to a magical entity warping her mind, and soul technically, and as a result she is bestowed some magical abilities not unlike that of a maiden but it's more tied to her insanity and differing personalities and she has no full control of it most of the time. How this is done (besides magic) is due to part of her consciousness being lost to the realm of the Ever After (I believe it's called). I will admit I haven't seen vol 9 yet so my knowledge is iffy. But from what I can gather it's basically like a Wonderland setting so that's my main angle on this. The powers she gained allows her to manipulate some objects as she perceives them. She can think a steel board is fragile like glass and can shatter it like it is. She can think her cane (her main weapon) is a special kind of candy so it tastes like candy. Occasionally she can bring some things to life, or rather summon them from the Ever After to her location through advanced magic. However, this is only available to her second personality. She can do a lot of perceived impossible things but she isn't all powerful as she just perceives the world differently so she interacts with it in a different way. She can still be beaten like anyone else it just takes some creativity and understanding of her odd way of thinking.

So I've been tinkering with the idea of an Alice type muse for the RWBY verse. Not sure why it's so much fun to make characters for it but it is. So what be on my mind lately? Well I want to make Alice a crazy lady. But not only is she crazy part of her abilities inadvertently lead to others going a little crazy. I wanted to make a character who sees the world as a Wonderland and as such most of what she states to perceive makes no sense to normal people but in addition to that her semblance also allows her to break physics in small ways and as such make people question how anything works. Trying to make sense of her abilities is what leads to madness. Semblance name, "We're all mad here."

But there is another thing to consider. Just how broken is this semblance really? What are its limitations? In short, I'm not sure. Still tinkering with that bit. But another issue is finding a good look. A Face claim if you will. And I think I found one with the perfect theme for this type of character.

So after some thought I think we have a name for this muse. Arthur Cerulean. Rather simple name, but I think it fits with what we're going with for this character. As for his semblance it's also rather simple, it's basically the Kaioken from Dragon Ball Z. For the uninitiated the technique in the show multiplies ones energy but at risk of straining the users body if pushed too much and can destroy the user if they're not careful. The premise is the same for the semblance. Arthur can use his aura to enhance his physical abilities but in exchange he loses the healing and protective abilities of his aura. If pushed too hard it would damage his body with the enhancements but the power increase is immense. When in use he will have his aura glowing around him.

With that stated I think we can start looking at the weapon and combat capabilities. Weapon is a simple pistol that can change to brass knuckles sort of things. He also has some boots that are enhanced with dust inlays as he does a mixture of punches and kicks. Mixed martial arts is his style as he's more of an up close fighter to be in sync with his team's leader, Tora, while the other two are backline supporters. For how skilled he is, he's about average during his time at Beacon, but with Tora to help train him he does quickly grow to be on par with the Ace Ops from Atlas after about a year. In contrast let's remember that team RWBY were decent fighters but they trained with the Ace Ops for what I believe is almost a month or two which led them to being at their level. This is also after the 6 month skip for vol.4 so this much growth is not unreasonable.

So our new OC shall be a faunus! Now we just need a type. Also no Gamma 2 will not be their definitive look. He's the basis for the character with personality and abilities to a degree. Outfit inspiration as well but not full looks. So with that said let's think on his faunus trait.

So I am determined to finish making the rest of Tora's team. I have ideas fleshed out for the other two but this one was always a challenge. My goal for him is to be the oddball of the group, the total opposite of Tora in terms of personality. While Tora is closed off, quiet, and reserved, this guy will be open, loud, and outgoing. This doesn't mean he's not a strong fighter. He is. Arguably he could be the strongest of the group. But that's saved for his semblance which I have an idea for. Main thing to do is get some more fundamentals set for him before moving forward. So already decided on a male (I have too few so always nice to make more). Age is 21. Last main thing to figure out is.....
