Chapter 10: Ripples

Rookspot and Egglaurel finally earn their warrior names! I'm so happy that all three main characters have their full names now, even if Egglaurel did something a bit dumb to get it. Surely there being no consequences for his actions won't give him any bad ideas about what else he can get away with, being Starclan's warrior and all. Right?
I got a new drawing tablet with a stylus that actually has pressure, so the drawing process was very fun and different to what I'm used to (and the colors are so much nicer on this new tablet). I don't think it affected my art very much besides adding a bit of line weight variation, but it was a lot nicer to draw on my end.
Chapter 11: Rose Bushes

I’ve been very excited for this chapter! If you’ve seen Foggy’s reference or Toyhouse page, you probably have an idea of where this is going, it’s not like I’ve been trying to hide it. I’m very excited for what’s to come!
I had a lot of fun with the backgrounds for this chapter, but I feel like I draw them in a different style every time. I try to keep backgrounds consistent between chapters (and within them) but it’s so different. It’s partly because I keep improving with each chapter that I draw, but I also just keep switching between different methods without even realizing it, lol. Hopefully I’ll be able to make them more consistent as I keep going.

Palestar the leader of Marshclan
Murkstar the leader of Summitclan
Whirlstar the leader of Bayclan
Palestar is quite the controversial leader, and it seems she’s getting worse with age, she is 156 moons old currently (13 years!!). She would’ve been more anti-SummitClan IF Murkstar hadn’t been made leader. Since Murkstar is an ex-Marshclan cat, she feels like she’s in control of it all.
Our beloved Murkstar is next! She’s anxious leading a brand new clan made up of SO many different cats, if you didn’t figure out from the intro scene, SummitClan is made up of cats from a kitten farm! SummitClan is a cat made up entirely of fancy cat breeds, I can’t wait for you to meet everyone hehe
Last but not least, Whirlstar the leader of Bayclan. Bayclan is a bit of an interesting clan, as they run like a monarchy, the deputy is ALWAYS the biological child of the leader. As you can see, they also love ornate decorations
Chapter 6: Blooming Flowers

I have a love-hate relationship with this chapter, as in I love the art but hate the writing. I’ve changed conversation topics several times, and had to keep deleting and rewriting scenes, and I’m still not happy with it. I think the main problem is that it feels like filler to me. It has important set up for some plot points and relationships happening in the background, and I needed to show the main three getting their accessories, but the main meat of this chapter just feels kind of meh to me. I don’t know. At least I got to draw some fun scenes, though.
Anyway, more importantly, it’s Rookpaw’s first POV chapter! Now that Rook and Egg are older, they both get to be POV’s as well. It’s fun to delve into their thoughts on things and see what they’re up to. Eggpaw will get the next chapter.

Chapter 3: Foxes Roam These Woods

Finally finished chapter 3, aka Foggypaw’s no good, very bad week. This was such a big chapter art wise, which is why it took so long (on top of having to design cats for the other three clans). Hopefully the next chapter will be quicker.
I totally forgot that this chapter takes place in the fall when I was colouring, so that cats keep talking about how cold it is and how the Moon Tree has lost all of its leaves while surrounded by a very green and lush forest. My bad. I didn’t notice until I was proofreading, and by then it was way too late to fix the art. I tried putting an orange tint over some of the bushes and trees, but I just couldn’t get it to work without having to completely redo the backgrounds.
Chapter 2: A Healer’s Journey

Lifegen claims its first victim. Surely this won’t have any negative effects on Foggypaw’s mental health… right?
This was a fun chapter to draw, I very much enjoyed getting to do the camp and territory backgrounds for this. I did not, however, enjoy doing Foggy’s leaves. When he was a paw, he had the dried herbs accessory on, but I ended up taking it off after a couple moons, and boy am I glad, because that means I never have to draw them again, lol.
