ONCE UPON A TIME, there was a lost soul. Wearily wearily, it traversed through this endless world: Complete white greeted it at every twist and turn, and the distant sounds of cicadas, waves, and hissing only drove it further into madness. “Where am I?” Wondered the lost soul. “Did I not die?” came the questions, only to be left unanswered and to linger as everlasting as this world was. Again and again had the lost soul taken steps forward, their direction aimless and stripped of their own freedom to make the decision not to.

「Go on, go on,」 said the voices in their ears. They had made promises of salvation, of freedom, of the ending of their suffering if they only kept going a little while longer.

The lost soul followed and followed, until coming upon a door. The voices rung clearer than before:

「We shall grant your wish. We shall grant your desire for life in the world from once you came.」

Mockingly mockingly, had the snakes before the soul hissed once they had entered. Serpents always tempted, and as stories foretold, the lost soul had wandered into their monstrous garden. Their fruit promised knowledge and fulfilled desire, and again and again, had they tricked someone so foolish. But the serpents did not lie.

Those who entered their game would get their wish and their desire fulfilled -- if they were to succeed. Magic always came with a price: Would you be willing to kill those around you, if it meant that you would get your heart’s greatest yearning? It seemed once more, you would have no choice.

Eden no Hebi is a OPEN GROUP VERSE that combines the basics of a Dangan Ronpa-style killing game with Shizen no Teki-P’s very own “Kagerou Project” series to celebrate the upcoming release of his new album “Mekakucity Reload”. We’re currently going into chapter four, and to celebrate, we’re re-opening apps not only to our current players but the public as well for two weeks! (until march 14th)

It’s on a fateful August 15th that your muse had met their demise &. awoke in a strange new world known simply as the ‘Heat Haze’. Along with others who’d met similar fates &. no easy escape in sight, they’re forced into a game of life &. death where the grand prize is a chance to return to their home &. the power to grant their heart’s greatest desire at their fingertips.

No knowledge of the series is required to join, but some content in the verse can be considered triggering. All gruesome and generally uncomfortable subjects in the realm of death will be properly tagged &. under a read more, but you have been warned. The smell of salt fills your nose as your eyes open. A glare hits your vision, as it seems the sun is right above you. It blinds you, and as you slowly move to get up, the sea breeze blows and gives you a slight chill to cool you from the almost unbearable heat.

A small ficlet for murder verse?

Ophelia’s movements feel empty and wooden, hollow and not entirely her own. It feels weird to be back here, in this position, sitting still in a canvas backed chair while two women younger than she thinks she ever was fuss around her: doing her hair, checking her eye shadow, hiding the circles under her eyes. Leopold sits beside her, a PA wiring him up for their triumphant return to television. Their first appearance since-

Ophelia turns her head away, more because her own thoughts than the attention of the mousy girl and the girl flinches back. It makes her feel slightly better, knowing that she can inspire that reaction in someone.

The majority of the world might not know about what she’s done since her daughter died. About the reason for the empty Council seat, the cell downstairs no one will ever use again, the two small bodies never to be mourned. But Ophelia is relieved to know that her crimes don’t need to be exposed for people to be afraid of her.

Bakshi appears on Leopold’s other side and dismisses the girls with a wave of his hand. “You two look wonderful,” he says, as though they’re at a dinner party and both their children are at home in bed with sitters. “Thank you for coming back to the show.”

Leopold grunts, shifting in his seat. Ophelia says nothing, doesn’t look at either of them. Bakshi seems undeterred. “The public will be relieved to hear from you two again,” he says. “And they’re going to be thrilled to see you two together again. So strong after such a tragedy.” He looks at Ophelia. “You’ll be quite the inspiration, Ophelia.”

Ophelia is almost relieved when the camera and lighting people arrive, pushing Bakshi out of the way, testing their angles and shadows and lights. The portly, balding man behind the counter peers at her from behind the lens. “Give us a smile,” he commands as he shows something on the screen to the lighting guy.

Ophelia does, robotic and dutiful, ever the trained show pony. The two nameless men exchange a look and even Bakshi looks uncertain. “You might want to work on that one, Madame,” he tells her with a hint of a smile and a laugh to his voice. “When was the last time you smiled?”

Ophelia looks at him. Leopold looks at him.

A part of her suddenly feels inclined to cry, to burst into tears right there in front of all these men.

Another part of her feels nothing at all.

Instead she just looks at Bakshi. “I imagine it was before my daughter was murdered.”

At least Bakshi looks mortified by her words, color draining from his face.

Leopold gets to his feet suddenly, yanking the wire out from beneath his jacket and tossing it to the floor. “We’re done here,” he says, turning and leaving the room without looking back to see if he’s being followed.
