I will never love The Muppets (2011) the way I do other muppet media, I have too many issues with it from the messy script to the massive plot hole with the phrasing of the Standard Rich and Famous Contract to the music [especially the music, boy have I got opinions there -] HOWEVER.
One element of the film I could never hate is Walter. Especially not now. Because right now with the closing of the Muppet Courtyard and MuppetVision 3D, we as Muppet fans are Walter. We are watching a massive capitalism machine close up and demolish a place dedicated to the work of the muppets and the muppet writers, performers and artists. We are standing here, repeating the phrase "so long as there are muppets there is hope" in our minds as we watch the last big Jim Henson [person, not company] project disappear.
With all respect that is due, fuck Disney. Fuck capitalism. Fuck the mindset that the things that don't sell or attract as many people as companies want are no longer worthy of preserving and maintaining.
But as long as there are Muppets, singing frogs and boomerang fish, there is still hope.
