Surprising Neighbors [Pelleas & Charlotte]
@munnymaiden sent :Â â Charlotte has been locked out and Pelleas is the only neighbor at home
Thud,
SLAM!
The dishes and glassware trembled noisily in their cabinets, and two books slid out of place on the bookshelf in the silent aftermath of the vibration, tearing Pelleasâ attention away from the notebook he had been poring over all morning. He waited vigilantly for another quake, eyes darting warily to the framed artwork that rocked precariously against the wall, certain that it would hop from the single nail holding it in place and shatter across the hardwood. Instead of another disruptive slam though, a stream of expletives followed, and Pelleas quickly rose to check the window.
âWhatââ His eyes widened. Why was she out in public like that? He barely even registered the sound of breaking glass behind him when she began hammering away at her door again. Then he pulled back sharply. Had she seen him? He wrung his hands with indecision and contemplated peeking outside again - just to make sure - but shook away the useless idea. Heâd simply go back to his work, andâŚ
Thud. Thud. Thud.
The glassware kept rattling, and Pelleas noticed the broken picture frame for the first time. No, he had no business interfering with whatever that woman was doing. He picked around the scattered shards of glass to retrieve a broom from the utility closet, but his conscience stopped him again. The frame was already broken.
Exhaling sharply, he put the broom back, grabbed his keys, and exited for the ground floor.
âExcuse me,â he started sheepishly, but his brow furrowed at the sight of punctured dry wall just right of the door. âDid you do that?â
His own foolishness made him flinch.
âI meanââ Goddess above, she really wasnât wearing anything appropriate. He looked down at his hands, fumbling loudly with his keyring.
âD-do you need some help?â
