read your thing on reboot v. original Man from Uncle and it's honestly better to consider them as separate but equally enjoyable entities lol. :P What they put in the new movie works for the modern audience, original MFU was hilarious and great but in the theaters this summer/fall it's got modern Mission Impossible and Bond to compete with, and those rebooted spy franchises are much more serious and less 60s camp.
haha, true. modern audiences want to see tall, strong, angry/suave spies (more daniel craig-ish, less david mccallum-esque which is a tragedy) and intrigue and uncle being formed bc of the main characters! and thatās a super interesting way of telling the story and it was a great movie but the way they changed the storylines and backgrounds and the charictarization makes them feel like entirely different characters... :P (man i miss 60s camp. i might be the only person i know who actually liked season 3. every review iāve readās likeĀ āthe dreaded season threeā andĀ āit got so campy audiences got pissedā but imo while the plot was a little shakier, the overall show was still enjoyable...)
(although i did love how, in the reboot, theĀ āinnocent of the weekā (gaby) turned out to be a spy. i loved that- i was sitting in the theatre likeĀ āman i wish she would beat someone upā AND PLOT TWIST)

the muncle reboot both comforts me and hurts me bc on one hand we finally have a napollya meeting story (as far as i know there isnāt one in the classic muncleĀ āverse) but all the people who have only watched the reboot donāt know how deep the napollya relationship ends up going. theyāve only seen two hours and one mission and there is so much more
