🌌 How to mod Fields of Mistria 🌌
Fields of Mistria is still in early access, but it already has 300+ mods available on nexus. I've been playing modded for a few weeks without issues and also through the new patch. While few mods might be temporarily broken, right now I have around 50+ mods that work just fine. So if you're tempted to try modding your game but don't know if it would be safe or how to do that safely, I thought this might be useful! I will also do a mod recommendation list on another post soon :)
We are going to be installing mods thanks to the Mods of Mistria Installer. This is your to-do list:
Create a mods folder for your mods: * On Windows, you'll want to create "mods" folder inside your Fields of Mistria folder (usually in [hard disk name]\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fields of Mistria) * On the Steam Deck you can also create a mods folder inside your Fields of Mistria folder or you can create a `mistria-mods` folder in your home directory.
Download the latest release of MOMI here (from the [releases page]). I have normal Windows and used the win-x86 file.
Copy paste the Mods of Mistria.exe file to your Fields of Mistria steam folder. (TIP: You can go to Fields of Mistria inside Steam and right-click -> Manage -> Browse local files to quickly open this folder! If it's not able to detect the Fields of Mistria location, try placing the installer in your Fields of Mistria folder, next to `data.win`).
Download the latest version of the mods you want. Save them in the previously created Mods folder!
Extract the mod zip file (using 7zip for example).
Run the Mods of Mistria.exe, it should detect the mods and show them on a list. Select them and click install!
Voilà, now go have fun!
What to do if it does not work? - mods in the mod folder must NOT be zipped (unzip or they won't work / won't be seen by MOMI). - Pay attention if there might be an override issue (two mods that modify the same file). - verify your in-game files in steam: Right Click on Game -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify integrity of Game Files. Let it complete. then run MOMI again to add the mods.
^ It actually would be best to verify the integrity of game files each time you add a mod or update your mods. That being said, I haven't done this every time and haven't ran into issues that were not solved with these previous steps. If anything else happens, it would be best to remove all mods and check for the issue, contact the mod author if the problem is a single mod or check MOMI's troubleshooting page on GitHub!
Hope this was useful and happy modded new amazing dating hotties simulator mistrian farming ✮
ps: some of the older mods, that have not been updated in the few months, have not been working anymore since the previous update. I know that, before MOMI, UndertaleModTool (UMT) was used but I have no experience in using that tool and UMT seems not to be working anymore for FOM (or at least that's what I understood, but let me know if I'm wrong) so I did not include it!
