Stars lit the small girl’s features with a sparkling veil as her brown eyes became hypnotized by the vastness of the sky.
“I can’t believe we’re doing this!”
She squeaked to the boy, a nervous giggle leaving her lips.
“Don’t worry, I’ve done it a thousand times.” The boy replied.
Tohru fell slightly behind Kyo, and he paused. Without a word, he grabbed the girl’s hand in his and tugged her along gently. The night sky hid their red cheeks.
Silently they walked along, words not needed to convey what they felt for one another.
“Trust me, okay?” Kyo scaled the short wall leading into the school and pulled the girl up after him, being careful not to let her fragile skin touch the brick wall. It was amazing how light she was, like the night breeze could suddenly whisk her away.
“Almost there.” They climbed stairs so familiar in daylight, yet more like a foreign place when dark.
“Made it.” The two stood on the top of the school’s roof, the entirety of the night sky above them and the lit city floating below, like an ocean of stars they were swimming in.
Tohru’s eyes grew, “Kyo kun! I-it’s amazing!” Her gaze was set on the vastness of the world before her, while Kyo’s was set on her.
He loved her.
And he brought her here because he did.
His “secret base,” so to say, that he had shared with no one. A place that held his heart up many a nights was now a place they shared. Did this mean their hearts were connected?
He hoped so.
The two sat, shoulders touching, as the stars sang above them, dancing in the dark universe that had somehow tied them together.
