Idea that Martyn’s voice is somehow protecting him from becoming the Boogeyman. It’s not benevolent by any means, but the Boogeyman is a different curse, and another influence. The voice can’t have its host affected by a foreign desire to kill, can it? It seems to tie in to Red Life bloodlust (the first proper message, I think, was when Martyn just turned Red), but the Boogeyman is a new thing.
And that’s why none of the Southlanders have turned Boogey yet. Either that’s somehow protecting them by proxy, or the voice simply doesn’t want others to mess with its champion (and they’re the people he spends the most time with).
