“We do not destroy,” she answered, voice soft with a gentle patience. This was the result of leaving a Pearl to their own devices. They could easily forget their purpose, Homeworld’s grand designs. “We build. We make use of a world’s every resource; even the organics are recycled back into their environment.  There is no waste.” Every colony was the result of meticulous planning to ensure that very fact.“...Which is more than can be said for most species.” 

“Take humans, for example. Our most recent analysis show they are unable to reuse even their sustainable resources. Unless they resort to colonization...” Much like gems, “...they will likely go extinct without any outside intervention.”

She was never meant for Earth. Even on her first visits, it always struck her as too chaotic, too wild. Now, though, the very sight of it was painful. Every wisp of grass, every creature scurrying about sent a pang through her heart. Pink valued the life here, and she died for it. 

Blue exhaled a shaky sigh. Lost in her memories, she ignored time passing around her; that is, until a flash of pink moved in the corner of her eyes. Startled, she frantically wiped at her tears, heart pounding, to see -- a pearl?

“...What are you doing here?” Her initial disappointment aside, it was still a shock to find another gem. Blue turned toward her, one hand emerging from her cloak to gesture her forward. 

     “   what — am i?   ” 

   rosie’s words held confusion as she stared at the other gem, confused and fascinated in equal measure. she hadn’t had much experience with many gems, and she’d never seen one with such a.. large gem before.

Strumming his fingers lazily across the strings of his guitar, Ammonite lay on a beach chair on the shores of Mask Island, his houseboat anchored on the reef just offshore. He hadn’t much plans for mid-springtime and thus decided to go on a tropical vacation on the most tropical island he could think of.
