Surely it hadn’t been that long, or was he that complicated of a mess? Everyone was a mess but that was beside the point. The trigger wouldn’t budge. It wasn’t his fault, he didn’t hesitate, his fingers didn’t lock, his mind didn’t go back there. Jem squeezed his hand and opened again and again until he could feel the tremors dissipate. Once back in the lab he shared with Fitz, his gun dropped to the counter rather heavily and he realized he couldn’t let Fitz examine the gun. When he heard the door open, he thought it was his partner who was approaching but instead it turned out to be simply a familiar face. “Ah, Clark...” He took a breath and once more picked up the gun, showing signs of hesitation as he did so. Jem then moved to his desk and left the gun in the corner and under some paper so Fitz wouldn’t come take it. “What brings you here?”
