It’s Muichuro and Yuichuro’s birthday today!!! I must admit that I am not the biggest fan of either of them (not like I don’t like them, just not as much as compared to Shinobu and Rengoku). However, it is certainly true that I have learnt quite a lot from them and that they are truly amazing people.

Muichuro to me is the symbol of kindness, determination and of course, genius. He became a Hashira within 2 months of training, forget about him only being 14. He has made me realise that age should never limit one’s abilities and will (yet I still managed to fail to put it into practice). Muichuro had raw talent, for sure, however he also worked incredibly hard to reach his current level. It was mentioned that he quite literally trained until he coughed up blood. Thus, Muichuro is a testament to the philosphy that enough hard work can get you anywhere. Some decide to spread it out over the years, others concentrate it into short spans of months like Muichuro.

Surpassing boundries can be- to the very least- quite difficult. It requires a sheer amount of willpower to accomplish feats such as that of Muichuro and is quite rare. Some who manage to reach high mastery are often driven by the goal of ambition in the form glory or power( cough cough Kokushibo). On the other hand, Muichuro is a different story. Before he lost his memory, Muichuro showed a great deal of empathy towards others and had a strong sense of responsibility, as seen through his excitement to become a demon slayer just to protect people. Despite Yuichuro’s constant scolding, Muichuro continued to infinite strength to defend others. I believe that what makes Muichuro’s accomplishments most remarkable is not their impressiveness but rather the drive behind it.

I have not forgotten about Yuichuro. Although I do not know much about him (as he only had very little screen time) and I certainly don’t approve of his behaviour nor of his lack of empathy, I cannot say that I do not understand him. Yuichuro watched both his parents die at a young age and obviously felt quite a lot of pain. I speculate that he never wanted Muichuro to feel pain like that again and hence was determined to make sure that they both would live on. His father had died while trying to save his mother, and thus poor Yuichuro must have reasoned that the only way to survive was to fend for themselves and no other. In my opinion, Yuichuro wasn’t inherently cold, he was just trying to protect all that he had left. He had to be harsh to his brother because he felt like that the world would be harsh to them and concluded that Muichuro would have to adapt to live on. Yuichuro may have acted mean, but in the end it was all out of love.

Muichuro and Yuichuro are truly inspiring people. Let us move forward together with their spirt and morals in our heart! Wherever they are (if they are somewhere), I wish them a wonderful birthday!

First of all, with immense regret I apologise for not delving further into the following panels. This was going to be perhaps the most important post of the entire series (up till the end of Giyuu Gaiden). Sorry for the inconvenience, as I know myself the pain of not reading analysis series in order.

Now not leaving the task on to-do, let's move on, shall we?

As you remember, in the last episode of this series, I discussed Shinobu's intent with her quote on the top of the page. We discussed the sarcasm and the meaning behind it.

But now we are focusing on Giyuu. First of all, I would like to make the following statements.

This novella is set after the kamado massacre.

Giyuu is feeling guilt about letting Nezuko live (for reference, check the the second part of the Giyuu Gaiden novel)

Giyuu downplays himself, considering himself to be lower than anyone else.

Shinobu directly just made statement to her judgement on demons

Now.......I wonder how this all adds up.

Giyuu is feeling guilt for what he did. Or I would much rather say, what he chose to do. He most likely feels that another hashira would have made a better decision.

And now Shinobu directly states her reaction. This isn't a simple coincidence. The author is deliberately trying to show us that Giyuu's decision was something that Shinobu- and maybe any other hashira- would not have chosen.

Giyuu's reaction tells us about how he feels this guilt. When he realises what Shinobu would have done if she was in his place, he immediately starts thinking about his decsion.

It shows the most important part of the manga: What sets Giyuu apart from the other Hashiras. While I admit I analyse this as the 'Giyuu and Shinobu analysis series', this is the Giyuu Gaiden. This about Giyuu.

But this single page tells us more about Shinobu's reason to be here. Why wasn't someone like Sanemi placed in here? Yes, I know I am elaborating a single page, but the treasure it holds is far too vast to even be covered in this post.
