#mugennami

I have this running story thing that floats around in my brain and occasionally I draw it or write it. The story doesn’t have a name, but the characters do.

From left to right: Mugennami, Arashi; Teneien, Hikaru; and The Dragon of the Eastern Palace “Higashi”. In typical Japanese fashion, they go by their last names almost exclusively aside from Higashi who that’s a shortening of his title (Higashi means east in Japanese)

You ever come up with a story but you write a random scene in like the middle of the story? Yeah that’s what I did with this concept and I just roll with it cause writing beginnings sucks imo.

The general synopsis is that Mugennami is the descendant of Susano-o no Mikoto and gets entrusted with two of the three Royal Regalia, Yasakani no Magatama, the magic jewel, and Kusanagi no Tsurugi, the grass-cutting sword, along with a mission to eradicate a bunch of demons and probably also the Yamato no Orochi as the final boss or something idk.

But anyway cause I’m an angst gremlin, I was flipping through one of my youkai myths and legends books and got some jacked up ideas and decided to hyper fixate on this one encounter with a demon called the Hari Onago and the series of events after said encounter. Honestly could be any demon with stabby capabilities, I just thought that one was cool.
