Intrusive Clowns, Preserved Cats, and Centuries-Old Hair: Museums Are Sharing Their Creepiest Objects
The Night of Hel At the Muesum
(Yes, I used 1 L. But it’s how it’s originally spelled. I dare you to tell me otherwise.) But today, I haven’t been feeling very well and so was resting and watching movies.
I love the Night At The Museum movies and amazingly enough, that is what I was watching! (And I was super-happy about it!) But, as I watched, I was like... “Damn... I would hate to see the magic tablet that brings things to life to end up in a roman museum. Larry, our dear main character would go on an adventure to get the tablet (and his friends back), but would ended up walking into a middle of a statue fight. Why? Because all the Julio-Claudian statues came to life and are beating the SHIT out of one another. I swear a full-sized Livia statue would use a bust of Augustus to decapitate Tiberius. Life-sized Augustus would be trying to get the the bust of himself of Livia’s hands and Claudius would be trying to fix the whole mess. Or, making out with the statue of Agrippina- while Gaius complained that he didn’t have any arms and legs. (None of his statues I know are full-sized- just fun-sized.) Nero on the other hand would be in search for Poppaea or trying to steal Agrippina from Claudius.
Imagine how horrible of a mess this would be to walk into! Like, it’s horrible! I just... I just love imagining how much marble would be on the floor in chunks after sunrise.
It would the worst night in museum history.Â
(And please don’t put this post in the movie’s tags as it’s a PG movie. Thanks.)

How would you describe museum work to someone who has never gone behind the scenes in a museum?
on a day like today - Boring.
on a good day though, being behind the scenes in a museum is like getting a peak behind the curtain at the Emerald City. I get to see/handle/study things that other people do not even know exist because it is from before their time. In this museum that means largely glass photo negatives lol but at other places it means Roman pottery or Chinese paintings.
It is also always a learning experience. Either I am learning something new about the artifacts or I am getting new skills for my work such as repatriation methods.
It is a gift to be allowed the chance to meet these objects because the objects in a Museum's collection are the closest thing I have found to God. Each one is delicate and fragile - or you must assume it is and not chance it - but they each hold a wealth of knowledge and stories within themselves.

Is jewelry art? These priceless collections, housed in some of the world's greatest museums, prove that it is.
