Important question to ask yourself before you put hand-embroidered fabric with massive sentimental value in a cardboard box in a non-climate controlled, leaking attic: is this a good idea?
To be fair, this same attic contained a dresser from the 50s full of Christmas stockings, approximately 5 million loose, sharp, rusty pins, and spare toilet parts (as well as doll clothing from the 20s or earlier, a partially-pieced quilt from the 30s/40s, and a bunch of random refrigerator magnets).
