One thing I will always be jealous of as an artist is the speed at which some people can produce polished work. Sometimes I see artists post super regularly and I can barely crank out a semi-decent sketch in twice the time it took them to doodle a whole page (never mind people who can paint quickly) and I feel insane. How do you do it???? I wish to have the skills of not spending an hour redrawing my sketches just slightly better before I tackle lining them😭

#in my own defense I do make all my digital artwork on a cell phone which severely limits my stroke length #which DOES have a measurable impact on how quickly and fluidly I can draw #but even still no matter how much I practice it still takes AGES #i can paint traditionally much #MUCH faster #like full on realistic portraits in 3-4 hours if I have a good reference #but hand me a stylus and I feel so hurr durr incapable it's maddening #sigh

Something I don’t really do: progress shots! I actually timed myself properly on this one and noted how long each section took me. I did actually do a different sketch and juuust started to line it before I scrapped it so that added time, but in total it took 49 minutes!

Sketching: 12 minutes Lining: 11 minutes Colouring: 20 minutes Shading: 6 minutes

So idk! That feels fast, even by my standards. I do tend to consider myself a fast artist, but I wanna know what other people think! How long would you say it’d take you to produce something like this?
